Robert James Phelps

Robert James Phelps is an accomplished artist who blends the styles of realism and painterly. Hailing from northeast Arkansas and having lived all over the south, he is no stranger to incorporating soul and character into his works. "Art should be personal and reflect it's intentions with no beguiling. Symbolism is a great concept but notions of paint splattered on a canvas having deep meanings of chaos, inner torment, or any pertinent attestment, is silly. In the end, paint splattered on a canvas is a reflection of a mess. It lacks talent and form." -Robert has been a board member for the Arts Council since 2009. During his time as a board member he has had a number of art exhibits at the Ritz. He has taught various summer workshops over the past few years. -Robert's creative pursuits do not end with paper and canvas. As an active member of the ACT 2! theater group, he has been an actor, director, set builder, and even a writer. In his personal life, -Robert has a love for; mischief, debauchery, wickedness, despondency, melancholy, obscurity, obscenity, impropriety, atrocity, indecency, controversy, misery, calamity, infamy, and even villainy. Knowing this, it should come as no surprise, that -Robert thrives for absolute world conquest. That is...if that whole gas station attendant thing doesn't work out for him.
